Crazy About Bromeliads!
May 12, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm| $10
Join bromeliad expert and grower Marty Folk at Nehrling Gardens for a presentation/workshop and plant sale. Marty will bring a diversity of bromeliads that showcase the extremes, from large to small, and different varieties that show shapes, textures, colors, etc. He will bring a lot of plants and all will be for sale, many of them that are difficult/impossible to find in nurseries. He is also donating plants to be raffled.
We strongly recommend registering in advance since Marty is well known in the bromeliad world and space is limited! We suggest a donation of $10 to Nehrling Gardens to attend the workshop.
(Please note the gardens are open from 9 am – 3 pm for those who would just like to tour or work in the gardens.)
You may register by donating through PayPal using the button below or you may email info@NehrlingGardens.org to register or for more information.
More on Marty Folk of Kissimmee:
My father shared a bromeliad with me 27 years ago and thus began my long-time hobby of growing these wonderful plants. I also grow other tropical plants such as orchids, gingers, and heliconias, but bromeliads are my favorite. I am active in the Bromeliad Society of Central Florida (Orlando) and the Seminole Bromeliad and Tropical Plant Society (Sanford). I’m also a member of the Bromeliad Society International and a previous board member. Since retiring from a career in wildlife biology several years ago, I volunteer 5 days a week at a nearby non-profit called Give Kids the World Village, where kids with life-threatening illnesses (and their families) come from all 50 states and 75 other countries for a week-long dream vacation near the theme parks. When not at the Village, I am often working with plants. But the bottom line is that I am crazy about bromeliads and enjoy visiting with people about them!
